Never One for Neon

Those who know me know that I've never been a huge fan of neon — that is, until this weekend. I've made it my mission to start adding a bit of color to my wardrobe (when I say a bit, I mean for every 10 pieces, only 8 or 9 will be black). Needless to say, my years at Vera Wang in all black have made an impact on me — that and Johnny Cash.

Anway, while shopping at the J.Crew Factory this weekend, I came across this bling with just a subtle touch of neon around the edge. It made me realize that just a hint of color can do the trick. I don't have to look like a popsicle to lighten up for summer.

PS. If you can't find this particular one online or in stores, I also love this "pale guava" version, as well.

My First CustomMade Project!

I'm so in love with my new bracelet from CustomMade Maker Jivita Harris Casey. She worked with me to create a one-of-a-kind piece that I will always cherish. This may sound silly, but emeralds are my bichon Lily's birthstone, so I wanted to create something special with her in mind. Also, many emeralds come from Colombia, where my boyfriend's family is from, so this is a very personal piece that I will cherish for years to come.

Working with Jivita was such a pleasure. I will never forget my first experience with custom, and can't wait to create more pieces soon!

All it takes is the right accessories to make an outfit complete.

Mixing and matching pieces is key. Don't be afraid to incorporate pieces that may not at first appear to be cohesive. Take a risk, be bold, and shake up your look by rocking a variety of bracelets and rings.  Wearing a few smaller pieces can be just as impactful as one bold item. So, have some fun with tiny treasures like these!
